President's Report
President's Report
Hello members of the New Plymouth Boys' High School Old Boys' Association, I trust this report finds you well. I ask that you take 2 minutes and read my plea. You are receiving this newsletter as we have your name on our database which tells us you are a proud old boy and you have a connection with the school.

WE NEED YOU TO GET INVOLVED!

It pains me to start this newsletter by shouting, but in all honesty, if you don't, the association's voice will be lost forever. We are close to becoming a name-only entity as we are struggling to find numbers to attend meetings and put their hands up to help run, and or support events.

The association was formed in 1912 and has a very strong history of giving back to the school as well as maintaining strong links with the school. I'd hate to see this stop, but we are now in a position where this may be the case.

We are struggling to attract old boys who are not current or ex-staff members to the committee. Currently, the next 2 presidents (4 to 6 years) will be all staff members, plus the majority of the executive committee are staff members, this makes the committee unsustainable moving forward.

I know that we are all busy and that time is precious, we are not asking a lot from you other than one meeting every two months and helping out with one of the events that we run throughout the year either by volunteering your time or supporting it with your (and your mates) presence.

We need you as an old boy of the school to step up and help bring life back into this proud institution of the school. With the School in its 139th year and with plans to celebrate the 140th in 2022 and the big 150th in 2032, it would be a shame if the OBA is not involved in these major milestones of the school.

Please, get in touch with us to register your interest in joining the committee.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Aaron Lock

OBA President
