Searching the School's Magazines 'The Taranakian'
The Taranakian is our School Magazine. It started in 1907 and was initially titled 'New Plymouth High School Magazine' up until 1913, then was renamed the 'Taranakian'. The Taranakian's are a good way to reminisce on the past, regenerate interest in the searching of classmates, and to keep you up-to-date and connected with the school. The Taranakians can be accessed online. Read more to get the link and instructions.

Excerpt from the 1908 New Plymouth High School Magazine Editorial page

Although we are a young institution compared with four or five of the leading schools of the Dominion, yet we are old enough to possess traditions, a Magazine is the very best means of keeping these traditions alive.

It is hoped that besides furnishing interesting reading matter to present pupils, that the Magazine will foster a spirit of loyalty, not only among boys actually attending the school, but among those who have gone out into the world. Old Boys' can do a great deal for their old school if their efforts are organised and systematic, and the Magazine will supply that link between the Present and the Past, which is so much needed.
